Hello, Friends! I’ve been dreaming of starting a little newsletter for a while now…a soft place to land where I can share sewing projects, behind-the-scenes peeks, fabric favorites, and life in between the stitches. So here we are! 

If I am truly honest, life is hectic this time of year! It’s Tarpon Season and my son is a Captain. Days revolve around fishing and Tarpon Tournaments. Having been on a boat most days, I constantly feel like I am rocking back and forth (experiencing that as I sit here and type). But, I love it and I love watching my son do what he loves!! This also means that a lot of my stitches this week have been on the water which is truly special, too. Summer sunsets on the Gulf Coast are magical!! 

Project wise…my sewing table has been a mix of quiet focus and joyful chaos (just the way I like it!!).

I’m currently working on the Quiltfolk Block of the Month, and it’s been such a treat. The blocks are beautifully designed and full of personality and history! We’re “Quilting the Decades” and it really pushes you out of your comfort zone. Month 1 might have made me question if I even how to sew (kidding) with the Lone Star Block (why is this so hard… )! But, it pushed me to try something and learn something new. I love how the monthly pace gives me time to really enjoy the process. I’m also super nerdy and love deep diving into things and Quiltfolk does such a great job at immersing you in the experience!  

Next week, I’m diving into another project I’m really excited about: Moda’s Blockheads 6! Are you doing this?? This will be my first time, but it looks like so much fun! It’s a community-driven quilt-along and features 24 blocks by various designers. Blocks come out weekly on Wednesdays and it’s FREE! If you interested head over to MODA and check it out! There is a huge (and I mean HUGE) Facebook community and truly, it looks like a blast!

And over on the hand-stitching side of things, I’m working on something incredibly close to my heart, a pattern I designed myself called Merryweather, named after my sweet girl (and feline supervisor).

It’s an English Paper Piecing project, and every little stitch feels like love. It’s still in the works, but I’ll be sharing more soon as it comes to life, (which as fellow EPPer’s know…takes forever). So, one petal, one seam, one quiet moment at a time.

As for me, well…WISH ME LUCK! We are in a Tarpon Tournament tomorrow and we have a title to defend!! We won this one last year!! Win or loose, I am just happy to spend time on the water with my sweet son, Brecken!
